1. There are a myriad of free, effective programs out there for teachers and students to use. Whether it be a photo editor, video maker, or website creator, there is almost always a free and easy way to get done what you need to do. The Digital Story project is evidence of just that. I was able to create an effective digital story (one of which I am proud) with completely free programs, all of which were easy to use.
2. Digital Storytelling is both an effective and affective means of communication. I had never created a digital story like the one in this course and was very pleased with the way it turned out. It was eye-opening the quality of product that can be made with free and easy-to-use programs. I was able to show my project to my class and it really seemed to stir up excitement and emotions. This is a project I would like to incorporate into a unit or two in the future.
3. Social media is not just for socializing. As evidenced by the many discussions our class had across multiple platforms, there is more to social media than "likes" and video re-posts. Though I liked some platforms more than others, all the discussions we had in this course were effective and informative. I can see using several such social media platforms in the future in my classroom.
